Marie Antoinette (DeNicola) Crocco, 79, of Ridgefield, formerly of Stamford, wife of Rudolph J. Crocco Sr., died at her home on Saturday, May 1, 2010.

Marie was born on October 11, 1930 in Stamford, daughter of the late Erberto and Assuntina (Izzi) DeNicola. Erberto and Assuntina immigrated to the U.S. from Calitri and Isernia Italy respectively.  She attended Stamford schools and was a graduate of Stamford High School class of 1948. Early in her career she was a professional fashion model working in New York City. She eventually worked as the Credit Manager with the F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert Co. of Stamford where she retired.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past twelve years coming from Stamford, Marie was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Ridgefield.

Marie loved to cook, scourer estate and garage sales, and travel to Italy where she would visit many relatives. Most of all she loved her family and friends. Summer picnics to celebrate a birthday with plenty of food and a good bocce game were Marie’s favorite events. Holiday celebrations would always include homemade Italian foods, cakes and pies. She had grown up in a tightly knit Italian family and her values were a reflection of that upbringing.  She had been Rudy’s caregiver for the previous nine years. Marie had an unwavering love and loyalty for her family and friends. She will be sorely missed, but her spirit and memory will be passed on for generations.

In addition to her husband of fifty-three years, she is survived by a daughter, Jacquelyn Andry and her husband, David of Ridgefield, CT, and two sons, Robert N. Crocco and his wife Helen of Huntington, CT; and Rudolph J. Crocco Jr. and his wife, Valerie of Carmel, NY and; a brother, Frank A. DeNicola Sr. and his wife, Beverly of Stamford; six grandchildren, Nicole, Christian and Cameron Andry and Nicholas, Christina and Natalie Crocco as well as several nieces and nephews.
