Louis F. Basher

Louis F. Basher, 89, of Danbury, husband of the late Mary (Dimyan) Basher, died on Sunday, June 20, 2010  at Harborside-Glen Hill, Danbury.
Mr. Basher was born in Danbury, February 24, 1921, a son of the late Joseph and Amelia (Buzaid) Basher.
He attended Danbury schools and was a WW II U.S. Army veteran.
He was employed for a short time with the former Dimyan’s Market and later became the proprietor of the American Oriental Bakery of Danbury.
Mr. Basher was a resident of Palace View prior to moving with his daughter and family to make his home.
He was an active member of the Lebanon-American Club of Danbury and a past co-chairman of the weekly Friday Night Dinner and Social. A member of St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury, he served as a past trustee.
He is survived by a daughter, Celia Basher David, her husband, Milan and their children, Andrew and Colin of Danbury, a brother in law, George Dimyan and his wife, June of Danbury as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Basher was predeceased by two sisters, Adele Moses and Mamie Salame and four brothers, Norman Basher, Abraham Basher, Alfred Basher and Edward Basher.
The Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday (tomorrow) at 10 AM in St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury.
The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Tuesday (today) from 5PM to 8PM.
