Charles “Chic” Banfi Sr., 83, of Danbury, husband of the late Elsie (Rossi) Banfi died on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Bethel Health Care, Bethel.
Mr. Banfi was born in Ansonia, CT, May 16, 1926, son of James and Margaret (Gardella) Banfi.  He moved to Danbury with his parents as an infant, later attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School in the Class of 1944. He attended Western Connecticut State University.
A World War II Army Airforce veteran, Mr. Banfi was retired from the former Castro Convertibles and Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals.
In early years, he was an assistant leader with Boy Scout Troop 9 of St. Gregory the Great Church and a Danbury PAL raffle volunteer.
A member of the former Castro Convertible Softball team, he enjoyed playing and observing sporting events, most especially woman’s fast pitch softball and the UConn woman’s basketball teams.
He was a member of St. Peter Church, Danbury.
He is survived by a son, Charles D. Banfi Jr. and his wife, Lynette of Forest Hill, MD; a daughter, Valorie A. Banfi of Manchester, CT; two grandchildren, Lara Lynn Banfi and Nathan Charles Banfi and several nieces and nephews.
He also leaves behind his favorite cat, Shadow.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 10:30 in St. Peter Church, Danbury.
Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Thursday from 8:45am to 9:45am.
