Edmund Seneviratna

Edmund Seneviratna of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 21, 2010 surrounded by family and friends.  He had lived in Ridgefield since 1977 when he came to the United State from his native Sri Lanka to join his wife Lakshmi (nee Silva) who owned and operated The Ridgefield Montessori School.

Prior to immigrating to the United States, Mr. Seneviratna served as Assistant Superintendent in the Surveyor General’s Department of the Sri Lanka Government.  In additional to his technical training and education in Sri Lanka, he studied at Cambridge University and became a member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the U.S. Congress on Surveying and Mapping.  Soon after arriving in Ridgefield, he joined the Perkin-Elmer Corporation as a Systems Engineer and retired in 1985.  He was an active member of The Men’s Club of Ridgefield and the New York Buddhist Vihara (Temple) in Queens, NY.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield where a public viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 23rd, from 6 to 9pm.  There will be a service on Wednesday morning, March 24th, at 10:00 o’clock, flowed by cremation at Charter Oak Crematory, 5 Tarby Lane, Oxford, CT.
