September 13, 1970 – January 19, 2009

Colleen Humeston of the Pound Ridge Humestons entered into eternal peace on January 19, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Colleen met the love of her life, John, in 1986 and they wed in 1994.  In May 2002, their miracle baby, Morgan, was born on Mother’s Day.  Colleen was a beautiful woman who had a beautiful smile.

Colleen was a devoted and passionate person who sought to excel in all things.  She was a Westchester resident almost her entire life, spending only a few short years in Connecticut.  Colleen graduated from Fox Lane High School, earned a B.A. from Pace University and went on to earn an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut.  Her intellect, tenacity and personality allowed her to excel in the corporate world in which she worked.  Her successful career included working for Clairol, Bristol-Myers Squibb and most recently, Diageo North America.  She was a force and inspiration to all who knew her.  In all that she did, Colleen was a hard worker who sought the best for her family.

Colleen was one that enjoyed the little and the big things life has to offer.  She loved fine dining, cooking and entertaining with friends.  She enjoyed good and lively conversation around a hot fireplace.  Colleen was happy skiing with friends and family and took many trips honing her skills.  Colleen particularly loved vacationing in the Caribbean and retuned there whenever she could.  She loved horses and was an avid equestrian, a love she passed on to her daughter, Miss Morgan, who was the joy of her life.

Colleen touched the lives of those who knew her.  This was clear in the outpouring of love and support she received from family, friends and colleagues when they made time to stand by her, day and night and in everyway they could, as she battled the illness that ultimately took her life.  Colleen looked out for her family and their future right up until the moment her life was cut short.   She will be dearly missed.

Colleen is survived by Morgan and John, her mother Virginia Barth, her sister Lisa Dugan and her husband Colin, and their children Brian, Matthew, and Christopher.   She is also survived by her brother and sister Carl and Carlene Barth, Aunt MaryLou Barletta and cousin Michael Barletta, and Uncle Al Arturi.  She was pre-deceased by her maternal grandparents, Mary and Albert Arturi.

In lieu of flowers, Colleen requested that donations be made for Morgan by check to:  New York’s 529 College Savings Program Direct Plan, via John.
